opening day in tokyo

The Red Sox are playing their season opener in Tokyo, Japan today.  The game started at 6am Eastern time, meaning that I missed the first two hours of the game.  I caught some of it in my car on the way to work and the rest (into extra innings!) on Yahoo’s GameChannel at work.

We won!  6-5 in ten innings.  Whew, I dont like games that are that close.  But winning is always good, especially when you are a Red Sox fan.

:(

Oh sorrowful night!  I just finished watching Week 9 (the last week) of In Treatment.  Now I am unsure how long I will have to wait until next I see the lovely Paul Weston and his menagerie of crazies!

lazy, long weekend

I have always known that knitting drunk is not a good idea, but this weekend I realized why not.  Jeff’s brother-in-law was in town Friday night and we went out.  After having maybe a few too many, I just couldnt resist knitting up a few rows on my so-called scarf .  The next morning, I spent more than a couple hours performing yarn surgery on the scarf.  I apparently do not pay attention when drunk and knit the zig zag stitch on the wrong side, purled the wrong side, dropped a few stitches and in my desperation to not have to frog the whole thing, I fixed it.  Even though it took almost threee hours to fix.  Such backward progress.  Tsk, tsk.  After correcting my rows upon rows of mistakes, I was in no mood to knit another stitch, so i re-read Augusten Burroughs “Dry”.  I forgot what a speedy reader I am, finishing the three hundred or so pages in a few hours ona  long lazy afternoon.

I have comfortably moved over to my new position. after stealing the chair from my old cube, I now have a nice comfy (although the floor seems to be slanted??) seat in my new section of the cube farm.  Still waiting on getting all my programs transferred onto my new computer, so this week should be a slow one.  But I’ll take it.

last day of school

Today, I feel like it is the last day of school.  It is the last day in my current group before I move on to a group more suited to my work ethic.  It’s about flippin’ time!  They are getting me a cake to wish me well and then I am on my way.  And since the stock market is closed on Good Friday, today is my Friday, which makes today even better!

I re-cast on for my so-called scarf last night.  I got far enough to show pics of some progress, however, I got sucked into “Gone Baby Gone” so knitting went by the wayside.  Great movie, by the way, if anyone is interested.

 Here you go:

Isnt the stitch pattern lovely?  And pretty easy to knit up, too.  I love it so far.

 Happy (almost) Friday to all!

no progress

So I tried casting on and knitting a few rows of my so-called scarf with the malabrigo *stonechat*.  I didnt get very far on size 6 needles before the bamboo slipped out and I couldnt figure out how to get thirty stitches back on the needles, so frog I did.  Again.

I got me some brand new size 7 Clover Takumi Bamboo needles that should better suit the worsted weight yarn and not be so stiff as a finished product.  I’ll have photos up as soon as some progress has been made.

Also, now that I am all caught up with In Treatment, I am supposed to watch it when it airs every night at 9.30 M-F, but Monday was my and Jeff’s anniversary and last night I fell asleep before it came on, so I guess I need a DVR or something.  This show is worse than crack!  I am going through withdrawals.  Perhaps there is a support group I can join?  Anyone?  Anyone?

three business days…

…and counting until I start my new position.  And the timing couldn’t be more perfect.  If I had to stay here any longer than that, I might just have to have Jeff ship me off to the loony bin.  And I am not exaggerating.  But I wont be a Debbie Downer and bore you with the details.  Instead, I will look forward to moving on, starting fresh and becoming a less stressed mess, but still a mess nonetheless, because let’s face it, messes are more fun.

Happy Monday, everyone.  I hope this week flies by for us all!

weekend

After playing hookie yesterday, I finally finished Odessa.  Yay me!  My first FO that needed to fit and does!  I ended up giving it to my sister, who was shocked that it actually fit, after the failed attempts with the knit yamukah and the cancer patient hat.

Jeff went and got his tattoo yesterday.  More evil shit, skulls.  It turned out great.  He has a show tonight, so he can show it off, all glossy and goopy from the bacitracin.  Mmm, sexy.

The show will give me a nice excuse to tinker with my trusty D40 and hopefully get some good stage shots.  Stage lighting is tricky to shoot, so hopefully this time I will get shots I am happy with and dont have to modify too much in PictureProject.  We’ll see.

burning

Let me just say that working out and driving a stick do not go hand in hand.  Sunday and Monday, I worked out my arms and could not shift.  I was screaming at people in front of me, “Speed up, don’t make me downshift!”  Today, after last night’s belly dancing charade (we nixed the swing idea), the clutch was near impossible.  The poor people driving by must have been so confused, trying to figure out why this strange girl was making pain-staking, excruciating faces while driving

If I keep up this working out business, I might have to retire my car.  For real.

hooked

I have watched 6 weeks of In Treatment in seven days.  Five episodes per week makes 30 episodes total!  That is 15 hours of quality HBO programming!  Holy crap.  I cant believe how addicted I am to this show.  I find myself thinking about the characters in the middle of the work day and trying to be patient until I can get home and delve back into that world.

Anyway, just wanted you all to know how pathetic my life has become, revolving around an HBO series on demand.  Ha.

So, no further progress on Odessa, either.  I have been working out though, trying to get my ass in shape for…nothing really, just trying to get to the point where I am not winded walking up a flight of stairs.  I quit smoking one year ago on March 5th, so I shoudlnt have the winded issue any longer, but it still lingers, most probably because I am so desperately out of shape.  So my sister and I have been having dance party USA in her living room trying to burn some calories after doing a few small 15 minute workouts on demand.  It is quite fun.  I think we are trying swing dancing tonight.  That should be interesting if nothing else.

I want to finish Odessa tonight, so hopefully tomorrow I can add a picture to my FOs, since it has been empty all this time, poor thing.

 Happy Tuesday!
